The University of Montreal's (UOM) new research is presented here in an interview with the Montreal Post, as part of the Canadian International University's annual conference on medical research.
The university is the third of the five universities to receive a $50 million grant from the UOM for the discovery and development of medications for erectile dysfunction, according to the University of Montreal's website. The university also hopes to gain access to more high-tech medical research, with a focus on drug development and drug-approvals in Canada.
"The UOM is the leading academic institution in Canada and one of the largest biomedical research institutions in the world," said Dr. Michael O’Neill, the director of the UOM’s Centre for Human Drug Discovery. “The University of Montreal offers a large and diverse biomedical research base and is well placed to conduct high-level, collaborative research."
The UOM is one of three Canadian universities to receive an additional $50 million grant from the UOM for the discovery and development of new drugs. It also has a research-and-development group in the research center for the discovery of medications for erectile dysfunction.

O’Neill is particularly pleased with the results of his recent study, published in theInternational Journal of Sexual Medicine, which looked at how some men who took Viagra for about four months with an erection were able to have intercourse. The study looked at the effectiveness of Viagra, which is available in a pill that has a similar effect as Viagra, on a group of middle-aged men who did not have erectile dysfunction.
The study found that men who took the drug Viagra for four months were able to have intercourse. But, when the men were asked to stop taking the pill and took Viagra again, there was no effect. The researchers said the men who took the drug continued to have sexual activity for the duration of the study.
The UOM website said the researchers noted that men who take Viagra for four months with an erection have no problems with intercourse, but that some men do have erectile dysfunction. They said the drugs are effective in treating both erectile dysfunction and erectile dysfunction, and that the men who take the drug have a lower incidence of the conditions that cause erectile dysfunction.
“The majority of men who took Viagra for four months experienced no problems with intercourse, and they were able to have intercourse,” O’Neill said. “The men who took the drug were able to have intercourse for the duration of the study.”

The Canadian government has launched an investigation into online pharmacies that sell fake medicines that may be counterfeit.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is warning Canadian online pharmacies that sell fake versions of erectile dysfunction drugs that are being sold on Canadian online pharmacies.
The MHRA is conducting an investigation into the sale of a number of pharmaceutical drugs and the possession of potentially dangerous counterfeit versions.
The MHRA has received reports of a number of websites selling fake versions of the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra and Cialis.
The MHRA said the websites that were selling Viagra and Cialis were selling a generic version of the drug. It said the drugs are manufactured by Canadian drug giant Cipla, a manufacturer of generic medicines.
The websites were not only selling fake Viagra and Cialis, but were also selling the same drug from another company. Viagra and Cialis are the only two of the three main erectile dysfunction drugs currently on the market.
The websites were based in Canada and sold on Canadian pharmacies.
The MHRA said it has received reports of people being caught selling counterfeit versions of the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra and Cialis online.
A spokeswoman for the online pharmacy chain Cipla said: “Counterfeit drugs that are manufactured by different manufacturers are not the same as genuine medicines. There is no legitimate medical need for them.
“Consumers should be cautious when buying medicines online. We will take appropriate measures to protect people and ensure that our customers are buying genuine medicines from legitimate sources.”
The MHRA said it is working with law enforcement agencies across the country to help identify and stop such online pharmacies.
The MHRA’s investigation into the sale of counterfeit erectile dysfunction drugs is being carried out by the Association of Canadian Online Pharmacists in Toronto.
